My G25 setup [updated to use H-gate shifter]
« on: August 18, 2008, 08:19:05 AM »
I was making a setup for the controls of RoR, so it will work on a G25, all pedals work perfect, the shifter somewhat works with RoR's shifting limits, so you have to activate the sequential shifter by pushing the shifter knob down, (not backwards or forwards) and turning the knob in front of it, until the red arrow points to the left, and a light on the left of the shifter module should light up green.

I mapped most some of the controls in the Logitech profiler, so you do not turn things on while trying to turn on others.

I made the shift command button the red left button on the wheel, and mapped commands for activating the map, and changing some of its characteristics. I also altered some controls on the keyboard, Ctrl+Shift+U is now the key combination to change the multiplayer GUI position, (where the messages are) G is now the "T" screen, to enter and exit a vehicle press the apps key (aka the key that brings up the properties menu in the desktop), and the custom Particles are now mapped on V, on the wheel, it is mapped on the left black shifter module button.

To change gears in sequential mode, it is like a real sequential transmission race car, such as Brazilian Stock Car, and possibly the Aussie V8 race cars as well. To shift up, pull the shifter, and to shift down, push the shifter.

JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR
- There is no H pattern support yet, as it cannot be supported in RoR's final released state. It is possible in future releases, because there is a direct shifting key for neutral, and there is some discussion about it on page 2.

This setup is not fully compatible with the G27 wheel, only G25 is fully supported.

to look around, use the "D-pad" in the middle. to centre the camera and to look back, press up or down on the same pad with the shift button (left wheel button) pressed.

Instructions:
open the .xml file in the Logitech profiler and write the directory of RoR.exe in the provided box, and import the .map file in the RoR configurator program under the controls section.

EDIT February 19th/20th 2010: H-gate added, Option to use sequential shifter/paddles added (in auto/sequential with autoclutch/sequential with clutch modes only), Changed some commands, added a few more.

EDIT Aug 19th 2008: Pedal map uploaded

EDIT Sept 28th 2008:[/b]
Shifting is easier, now the game will not shift more than once at a time, mapped in Xpadder because the Logitech profiling software does not allow you to map the shifter buttons to anything. To load the RoR shifting preset, you have to download Xpadder (click this to download, next, open the G25 controller file. Lastly, you have to load the control preset in Xpadder as well as the Logitech preset and RoR preset. I have updated the zip file with the Xpadder files, but you need to download the program and open the preset before trying to shift. I made the steering 900° in the Logitech profiler software, as you would have to unplug the controller from the outlet. RoR has no force feedback.

The only Issue I noticed is the starter, if you hold the button when you have not tapped it 2 times after the engine has stalled, it will cycle through turning on the trucks battery contact and turning it off.

EDIT April 2nd 2009: Fixed starter issue, but a temporary clutch axis problem came up in 0.36 and 0.36.1. Reverse gear shortcut introduced. press same button as Starter while pressing the wheel's shift button (left wheel button).

Known Issues:

A button on the wheel (mapped in Xpadder) is pressed, (ie. the shift up or shift down buttons) will show a letter in a selected text box. (not fixable)

Upper case when chatting or incorrect command while pressing clutch pedal (not fixable until the axis issue is resolved)

Post glitches about the preset, if found.

I apologize about the following bump, I have updated the setup, now the shifter will not change gears more than once at one time. Check the first post.

The clutch pedal has been working ever since i made the first version, I only forgot to mention until now.

I can't get this to work at all. I put everything in Rigs of Rods folder. I then got Xpadder to open the 2 files. I got Profiler to open the profile. I imported the keymap. But it does not work in-game. It drives the car forward without the pedals being down, doesn't detect brake/clutch/steering/anything!

EDIT: Bloody thing doesn't support more than 1 controller, and I've got 2 game controllers - a Joystick and the G25.

i hope pricorde or thomas (or someone else)
can make a diffrent kind of configurator
this is because the pedal for clutch and for brake are stil axis 1

i am able to put it all together but the clutch axis is stil mest up (unfortanly)

TRUCK_SHIFT_DOWN           JoystickButton             9
TRUCK_SHIFT_UP             JoystickButton             8
TRUCK_STARTER         JOYSTICKBUTTON      7
TRUCK_BLINK_LEFT               JoystickButton             5
TRUCK_BLINK_RIGHT              JoystickButton             4
TRUCK_BLINK_WARN               JoystickButton             15
TRUCK_ACCELERATE               JoystickAxis         2 REVERSE+DEADZONE=0.00
TRUCK_BRAKE                    JoystickAxis         1 REVERSE+DEADZONE=0.00
TRUCK_HORN                     JoystickButton       6
TRUCK_STEER_LEFT               JoystickAxis         0 LOWER+DEADZONE=0.00
TRUCK_STEER_RIGHT              JoystickAxis         0 UPPER+DEADZONE=0.00

small list what i have

for the rest it is stil the clutch
i hope zippy can say how he has done it.
when i have the clutch it is finished to use on the g25
only the orther buttons must be placed somewhere for special truck settings

last thing is that i like to see is that the shift part is fully working
mayby a key stroke for every gear
but if you go higher than 6
press button ...
to go to high and go further from 1 thill 6 for 7 thill 12
so on, so on

This thread was made for 0.35, and the G25 worked fine with it (the clutch too). Chances are, even zippy's clutch doesn't work now ;)

It also would be nice to get logitech dfp pedals working.
Edit: Nvm, solved the xpadder problem
Edit2: Ahh, didn't work. Pedals weren't analog and the brake pedal is engaging when it is not pressed :(

The G25 setup is kind of obsolete at the moment. I can not fix it entirely due to some odd bug in the software.

EDIT: my clutch does not work on analog, and I was thinking on mapping it to a key on the keyboard.

EDIT: the G25's accelerator and brake work! But... no clutch... :(
